Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive and industries to flourish. The governor gave this assurance while receiving a delegation from MUNEC Nigeria Limited, who paid him a business visit to discuss their proposal to establish a flour mill and ceramic industry in the state.
Governor Otti congratulated the team on their decision to invest in Abia State, emphasizing that his government prioritizes creating an enabling environment for businesses to succeed. He noted that the essence of governance is to provide a conducive atmosphere for industries to be set up, create employment opportunities, and improve the social welfare of the people.
The proposed industries, a flour mill and ceramic industry, are expected to provide employment opportunities for over 6,000 youths in the state. The governor expressed excitement about the project, noting that it would not only create jobs but also increase the state's revenue base and improve its gross domestic product.
MUNEC Nigeria Limited's CEO, Mr. Moses Nwankpa, revealed that the company has acquired land in Isialangwa Local Government Area and has secured funding from sources in Florida, United States. He requested the government's support in the form of a Comfort Letter to facilitate the release of funds.
The Process Engineer, Uzoma Collins, assured the governor that the establishment of the industries is feasible and solicited the government's support from the construction stage to production stage. He emphasized that the industries would take youths from the streets into productive ventures.
Governor Otti thanked the delegation for their decision to invest in Abia State and assured them of his administration's support. He noted that the modern ceramic industry used to be one of the most flourishing industries in the South East before it encountered challenges in the past.
The Commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Industry, Dr. Isaac Ukaegbu, and other government officials were present at the visit. His Royal Majesty, Eze Nelson Nmerengwa and Eze Sampson Jinanwa were also part of the delegation.
This development is a testament to Governor Otti's commitment to creating a business-friendly environment in Abia State. The establishment of these industries is expected to have a significant impact on the state's economy and provide employment opportunities for the youths. With the government's support, MUNEC Nigeria Limited is poised to make a significant contribution to the development of Abia State.
