Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has reiterated his administration's commitment to partnering with serious-minded companies to achieve a digital and technology-driven economy for the state. The Governor made this known while receiving a delegation of investors from the West India Asian Cable Company (WIACC), a broadband company led by HRM Apostle Chibuzo Gift Chinyere.
Governor Otti emphasized the importance of broadband technology in driving economic prosperity in the state. He revealed that his administration has a robust plan for infrastructure development, including the commissioning of the Geometric Power Plant, which has the capacity to expand power across the state and beyond.
The Governor expressed his vision for an Abia where people can earn a living from the comfort of their homes, leveraging opportunities offered by Google, Amazon, and other global tech giants. He acknowledged the need for fiber and broadband technology in the state, emphasizing its potential to transform education, healthcare, and employment generation.
HRM Apostle King Chibuzo Gift Chinyere, who introduced the investors, praised Governor Otti as an answered prayer from God to deliver Abia from years of bondage. He highlighted the Governor's transformative projects, which align with his vision to make Abia the Dubai of Africa.
The Regional Director of WIACC, Mr. Darren Bedford, explained that the company seeks to partner with the state government to establish an internet hub that will attract global tech companies like Microsoft, Google, and Amazon. The project, situated on 80 hectares of land, will link Abia with other southern states and beyond, providing internet connectivity and employment opportunities.
Consultant Mr. Innocent Nwokocha added that WIACC has designed a project to link Abia with China, UK, France, Germany, and other European countries, providing training opportunities for youths in broadband technology and transforming Abia into a smart state.
This development marks a significant milestone in Governor Otti's efforts to drive economic growth and development in Abia State through technology. With the commitment of his administration and the support of investors like WIACC, Abia State is poised to become a hub for digital innovation and economic prosperity in Nigeria.
