Eyewitnesses report that the protesters, mostly youths, gathered in front of the APC secretariat, chanting slogans and demanding action from the government to address the hunger crisis. The situation quickly escalated, with some protesters turning violent and setting the building on fire.
The fire, which started in the early hours of the morning, has destroyed a significant portion of the secretariat, including important documents and party properties.
"This is a very sad development," said a party official who wished to remain anonymous. "We condemn the violence and destruction of property. We urge our members to remain calm and peaceful in their demands for better living conditions."
The protest against hunger is not an isolated incident in Jigawa State. In recent weeks, several communities have taken to the streets to express their frustration over the increasing cost of food and other essential commodities.
