Igbo Youths Urge National Assembly Members to Support Creation of Anioma State

In a recent development, Igbo youths under the umbrella of the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) have written to South East National Assembly members, soliciting their support for the creation of Anioma State. This move is aimed at addressing the perceived inequality in the number of states in the South East region compared to other regions in Nigeria.

*The Case for Anioma State*

The South East region currently has five states, while other regions have at least six states, with the North West region boasting seven states. This disparity has been viewed as a form of discrimination against the South East region, prompting repeated calls for measures to address this imbalance.

*A Bill for Anioma State*

Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, has sponsored a bill seeking the creation of Anioma State. However, the bill is yet to be passed by the National Assembly. The OYC is urging senators from the South East region to support the creation of an additional state in the region, which would help to address the existing inequality.

*The OYC's Plea*

In a statement jointly signed by the OYC President General, Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, and Secretary General, Comrade Ifeanyichukwu Cedric Nweke, the organization appealed to the senators to address this injustice by supporting the creation of Anioma State.

*A Step Towards Equality*

The creation of Anioma State would be a significant step towards addressing the perceived inequality in the number of states in the South East region. It would also demonstrate the commitment of the National Assembly to promoting fairness and equity in the country's administrative structure.

*Conclusion*

The call by the OYC for the creation of Anioma State is a timely reminder of the need to address the existing imbalance in the number of states in the South East region. It is hoped that the National Assembly will give due consideration to this request and take the necessary steps to create Anioma State, thereby promoting equality and fairness in the country's administrative structure.
