The Department of State Services (DSS) has recaptured Abdulazeez Obadaki, a wanted terrorist who escaped during the 2022 Kuje prison break in Abuja. Obadaki, a member of the Ansaru terrorist group, was arrested on November 14, 2025.
He was involved in several violent attacks, including bank robberies in Uromi, Edo State, and a fatal shooting at Deeper Life College in Okene, Kogi State, both in 2022. Obadaki was among over 800 inmates, including Boko Haram suspects, who escaped when insurgents attacked the prison ¹ ² ³.
The DSS considers Obadaki's recapture a significant breakthrough in Nigeria's counter-terrorism efforts. Further investigations into his network and collaborators are underway ³ ⁴.
