Engineering Firm, Winlyn Ltd Petitions Abia Governor Otti Over Obstruction, Demands Access To Land Allocation

Winlyn Ltd, an engineering firm, has petitioned Abia State Governor Alex Otti, seeking his intervention in a land dispute. The company was allocated 25,199.851 square meters of land in Umezike Autonomous Community, Umuahia, in 2021, after paying ₦28 million. However, Winlyn Ltd claims that despite paying the allocation fee and expending over ₦150 million on preparatory work, it has been obstructed from accessing the land.

The firm's lawyers, Inibehe Effiong Chambers, sent a petition to Governor Otti, requesting the ejection of alleged trespassers and unrestricted access to the land. The petition alleges that Mrs. Lillian of Lovilly Concepts Nigeria Limited is deploying miscreants to intimidate Winlyn Ltd's workers and block access to the land.

Winlyn Ltd has warned that it may seek judicial redress if the matter is not resolved, emphasizing that the governor has the constitutional power to safeguard its right to the allocated land. The company claims that the prolonged dispute is undermining investor confidence in Abia State and has resulted in significant economic losses ¹.
