Abia State Governor Alex Otti is being urged by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 elections. Kalu believes Otti will receive full support from Abia APC members if he defects, emphasizing that the governor should openly declare his support for President Bola Tinubu if he's truly backing him ¹.
Kalu, who represents Bende Federal Constituency, stated that APC will take over Abia State in 2027, citing President Tinubu's assent to the South East Development Commission (SEDC) as a reason for the state to repay the president with an electoral victory. He also praised Otti's performance but maintained that Abia should be governed by APC to leverage federal power for state development ² ³.
The call is part of Kalu's efforts to attract Labour Party members to APC, highlighting the party's division and Otti's founding member status in APC.
