The Cross River State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expelled its former chairman, Alphonsus Ogar Eba, and suspended State Special Leader, Dr. Juliet Ebuo Diwa. The decision was made during a meeting of the APC State Caretaker Committee, citing Eba's breach of the party's constitution by instituting legal action without exhausting internal dispute resolution mechanisms ¹ ².
Eba's expulsion follows the invocation of Article 21.5(v) of the APC Constitution, which states that any member who takes the party to court without exploring internal resolution channels automatically stands expelled. The motion for expulsion was moved by Dr. Abubakar Efoli and seconded by Dr. Joseph Idagu Ogar ¹ ².
Dr. Diwa's suspension is over alleged misconduct at the ward level, specifically assaulting Ward Chairman James Abang. The suspension will remain in force pending the outcome of the party's disciplinary committee investigation ¹ ³.
