Anthony Joshua's driver, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care, and driving without a valid driver's license. The charges stem from a fatal crash on December 29, 2025, where Joshua's Lexus SUV collided with a stationary truck on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, killing two of his friends and team members, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele ¹ ² ³.
Joshua, who suffered minor injuries, was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday. The police said Kayode was granted bail of 5 million Naira ($3,480) with two sureties, and the case has been adjourned to January 20, 2026 ² ³.
President Bola Tinubu expressed condolences to Joshua and the victims' families, calling the incident a "tragic accident". Joshua's promoter, Matchroom Boxing, confirmed his stable condition ¹.
