A popular DJ with a spinal injury is urgently seeking government intervention to access medical care, as Nigeria's doctors' strike continues to crippling healthcare services. The strike, which began on January 12, 2026, has left many patients, including those with critical conditions, stranded and unable to receive treatment ¹ ².
The Nigeria Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has been on strike since January, citing unpaid allowances, poor working conditions, and lack of government response to their demands. The strike has affected several federal hospitals, including the Federal Medical Centre, National Hospital Abuja, and University College Hospital Ibadan ² ³.
The Federal Government has appealed to the doctors to end the strike, with Minister of State for Health, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, stating that 66% of the doctors' arrears have been paid and the remaining balance will be settled soon. However, NARD insists that their demands, including payment of outstanding allowances and implementation of the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure, must be met before they resume work ⁴ ⁵.
