Aba Power has announced the restoration of electricity supply to Aba and surrounding areas after an 11-hour outage. The power outage, which started at 4:33 am, was caused by a gas shortage from Heirs Energies, operator of the Oil Mining Lease (OML) 17. Aba Power's Senior Brand and Communications Manager, Edise Ekong, stated that full restoration is expected around midnight, as the gas buildup process is gradual ¹ ² ³.
The outage marked the first interruption in 60 days, highlighting Aba Power's efforts to provide stable electricity. Aba Power's 188MW Geometric Power Plant is expected to improve power supply in Abia State and beyond ² ⁴.
