Senator Uche Ekwunife, the Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, has revealed that the party's national leadership failed to support their candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, in the November 8, 2025 governorship election, which ultimately led to Governor Chukwuma Soludo's re-election. Ekwunife stated that despite the party's massive commitment and support in Anambra State, the national leadership's lack of backing hindered their chances of winning ¹ ².
Ekwunife emphasized that if the party had received just 20% support from the national leadership, they would have had a significant chance of unseating Soludo. She urged party members to participate in the ongoing e-registration process, stressing its importance in determining how members are rewarded and empowered ¹.
The APC had expressed confidence in winning the election, with the party's National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, stating that they would "uproot APGA" from Anambra State. However, Soludo ultimately emerged victorious, securing 422,664 votes, while Ukachukwu garnered 99,445 votes ³ ⁴.
