Armed bandits stormed Woro and Nuku villages in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State on Tuesday evening, killing 75 Muslims and burning multiple homes and the traditional ruler's palace. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who visited the affected communities on Wednesday night alongside service chiefs and cabinet members, described the attack as a "cowardly expression of frustration by terrorist cells" following ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the state. The governor said the assailants, who arrived in large numbers from the Borgu forest in Niger State, moved from house to house, shooting indiscriminately and setting shops ablaze. President Bola Tinubu has approved the deployment of an army battalion under Operation Savannah Shield to pursue the attackers. The governor assured residents of intensified security efforts and urged calm as search and rescue operations continue, with casualty figures possibly rising as more bodies are recovered. This incident is one of the deadliest in recent months in Nigeria's North-Central region, highlighting the persistent threat of banditry and the need for sustained security measures. ¹ ² ³
