A fresh attack by suspected herdsmen in Akpete community, Apa Local Government Area of Benue State, has left two people dead and several others injured. The attack occurred on Friday, February 7, 2026, around 6 p.m., when the assailants returned to the community in larger numbers, moving from house to house and attacking residents ¹ ².
The victims were identified as Matthew Ochanga and Isaac Adanu. Many others suffered serious injuries, and several residents were reported missing as panic spread across the community. The Benue State Police Command confirmed receiving reports of the attack and deployed the Rapid Response Squad to repel the assailants and restore calm ¹ ².
